Transformative Coaching for Every Journey

Understand the meaning of your dilemma and unlock your potential with personalised coaching. Our coaches will help you identify your values, empowering you to achieve greater self-understanding, enrich your connections with others and carve a fulfilling path in the wider world. Coaching with Chora will enable you to make informed, meaningful decisions to enable you to thrive in the areas that matter most to you.

The Essence of Chora Coaching

Chora coaches all have different styles of coaching, and different interests. What connects us is our shared interest in, and commitment to working with existential issues. We come together regularly to take inspiration from and learn from each other.

We offer coaching to a diverse range of people, including individuals, groups, leaders, and executives.

The name of the group stems from “Khôra”, a Greek philosophical term described by Plato as a receptacle, a space, or an interval. Key existential authors addressing “Khôra” include Heidegger, who refers to a “clearing” in which being happens or takes place.

Chora coaches aim to offer a clear, safe space to address issues that are of concern to you or areas you wish to develop.

Individual Coaching

Chora offers personalised coaching to help you explore your concerns and achieve your personal and professional goals. Each coach handles various dilemmas in sessions ranging from 1-4 hours. Arrange sessions directly with the coach through their profile contact. Fees and delivery (in-person or online) are negotiated individually.

Group Coaching

Some Chora coaches offer Group Coaching to help teams achieve personal and professional goals. We work with various groups, including business teams and those facing shared issues such as retirement or leadership changes. Please arrange sessions directly with the coach, who sets the fee and negotiates delivery (in-person or online).

Training and Workshops

Some members of the Chora team offer workshops and training programmes as a complement to coaching. These range from half-day or one-day workshops on a variety of themes to full training programmes in Existential Coaching, Leadership and Conflict Resolution. We can also offer individual and group supervision for coaches incorporating existential thinking in their work. Books and articles by Chora members are also available.

Our Shared Philosophy

At Chora Coaching, we embrace an existential and phenomenological approach to our coaching practice. This means we focus on understanding our clients’ unique perspectives and experiences. By exploring your own world-view, values and beliefs, we aim to help you navigate life’s complexities with greater clarity and authentic purpose. Tailoring our approach to each individual’s needs is essential to fostering deeper insights and more meaningful growth.

Our History

Founded by Monica Hanaway in early 2024, Chora Coaching began as a collective of coaches who trained in Existential Coaching at Jesus College, Oxford University. Our group has since grown, united by a shared commitment to existential principles and a passion for helping others. We continue to draw inspiration from each other, constantly evolving and refining our practices to better serve our clients.

Our Approach

Our coaching philosophy is grounded in existential and phenomenological principles. We believe that every individual has a unique way of experiencing the world, and our role is to help them uncover and understand these experiences. By focusing on what is meaningful to our clients, we guide them towards greater self-awareness and authentic living.
