Our Shared Philosophy
Although all members have their own unique ways of coaching and have different interests and specialisms, they all share an existential and phenomenological approach to coaching practice.
Individual Coaching
Experience one-to-one coaching tailored to your individual needs and aspirations.
Group Coaching
Commission or join group coaching sessions to learn and grow in a supportive environment.
Individual Coaching
One-to-one personalised coaching takes place for a set period and is confidential. The client and coach will agree the length of time of each session and the frequency with which sessions will take place.
The coaching work can focus on any concerns and opportunities the client brings, whether they are professional or personal.
Individuals can commission one-to-one sessions and so can organisations wishing to fund sessions for their members or employees. When the funding comes from someone other than the client, a contract will need to be agreed concerning the boundaries of what might be shared and whether or not three-way meetings will take place.
The existential approach
Existential Coaching with individuals covers the same ground as other coaching models but looks at the issues through an existential lens: the coach works closely with the client to understand their individual world-view – how they operate in the different spheres of their life, what is meaningful to them, their values and beliefs.
This means we generally make less use of psychometrics, exercises, and coaching techniques, although this will differ among the coaches.
Group Coaching
A method where one coach facilitates a group of people as they work towards improving certain behaviours or outcomes.
The coach offers a psychologically safe environment for the participants to talk, listen, share, discover, and support each other.
The existential approach
Group existential coaching focuses on the balance between responsibility and freedom.
These are some of the existential issues that can be explored in a group:
- Dealing with Uncertainty
- Shared or disparate values and beliefs
- Authenticity (Personal v Organisational)
- Finding Meaning
- Power dynamics
Who can benefit from group existential coaching?
Here are some of the groups we’ve worked successfully with in the past:
- New Leaders
- Board Members
- Bands (musicians)
- Theatre Groups
- Film Crews
- Empowerment Groups (under-represented groups in a particular structure/hierarchy)
- People in transition, e.g. parents-to-be, new parents, those approaching redundancy, retirement, engaged in restructuring
- Groups experiencing conflict
